Oh, to be fifteen again ..

15!Two very different 15-year-olds featured on Cricinfo’s blog The Buzz this week.

Ethan Peel became Britain’s youngest qualified umpire last saturday. “It would be nice to progress on to umpiring professional cricket but I’m taking it all one step at a time.”

A few days later Ali Zoren Khan from India scored a massive unbeaten 461 in an inter-academy tournament. He could have made 500, “but we had a plan to bat till lunch as we needed enough time to bowl them out twice. So no regrets.”

Both great achievements, but I know who I’d rather be. Do you?

In my dreams I am a great bowler

I don’t play cricket. Never have. I’ve only faced a couple of balls in a net, years ago. Hardly got any bat on ball.

Ever since, I believe I’m more the bowling type. I fact, I tell myself I am probably a very gifted bowler.

To keep this dream alive, I have decided to never pick up a ball and bowl. It’s too good a fantasy to lose.

What about you? Do you play? Are you any good? Missed out on a international career because of a foot injury? Never met the right coaches but otherwise be the next Flintoff?

Post-Tweet Pietersen makes his Surrey-debut.

Kevin Pietersen is making his debut for Surrey right now. It must be the most eagerly watched game Surrey played in years.

Do not miss this. I’m betting on Pietersen hitting a flashy hunderd.

You can also listen to BBC’s commentary on how Pietersen does.

Update – Okay. So not quite a hunderd, but 38 of 33 balls is a decent start after al the fuss.
