Live cricket on your iPhone and iPad

There is no option for watching cricket live on your iPhone or iPad yet, but there are several radio streaming apps which give you access to the next best thing: Test Match Special.

The best streaming radio app in my view is ooTunes.

It is not free, but I find the small investment more then its moneys worth.

I use the app to listen to TMS when driving home from work, which – depending on how busy traffic is – sometimes means a two-hour drive. What better way to pass that time listening to TMS and stay in touch with what is happening in the Test?

Well, perhaps listening to Test Match Sofa, which is one of the over 23.000 stations available on the ooTunes app.

And come november, it might be fun to listen to ABC.

Willow TV now offering monthly subscription

Willow TV monthly packageWillow TV has come up with a mighty fine new offer: a monthly subscription which gives you access to basically everything they got. And believe me, that is a lot of cricket.

Check Willow TV for the complete fixture list.

The package includes:

All of this for a meager $14,99 per month. If you ask me, this sounds like a great deal for everyone who loves cricket, but can’t get Sky.

What do you think? Is this offer from Willow TV getting your money’s worth?

Eurosport to broadcast Champions League Twenty20 online

I’m a bit late with the news, but Eurosport bought the rights to air the Champions League Twenty20.

The tournament will be broadcast on British Eurosport in the UK, on Eurosport2 in the rest of Europa but – more importantly – Eurosport will also broadcast the tournament online with their Eurosport Player.

The 2010 Champions League tournament will be played in South Africa from September 10 to September 26, and will feature the the top T20 teams from India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies.

Watch World Cricket League livestreams on ESPNSTAR.com

Today, the World Cricket League Division 1 tournament began and as I posted last week, a lot of the games can watched online.  It was not clear where exactly at the time, but now we know where: http://www.espnstar.com/icclive/.

I have been to busy at work to watch it myself, but from what I read I missed a great game between the Netherlands and Scotland. Too bad we fucked up by dropping a catch and missing a stumping of the last two balls ..

If you did watch online, do leave a comment and share your views.

Livestreams World Cricket League on ICC website

Good news. According to the KNCB-website, the ICC is going to livestream several matches from the World Cricket League Division 1 on its website.

All the six games played on the VRA-ground – including the final on July 10 – will be broadcasted live on internet. Those six matches account for almost a third of the entire tournament and each team plays at least once at VRA:

  • July 1  - The Netherlands vs Scotland
  • July 3 – Canada vs Scotland
  • July 5 –  Kenya vs Afghanistan
  • July 9: – The Netherlands vs Ireland
  • July 10 – Final

For the full list of fixtures, visit the ICC website.

Really a great initiative by the ICC and, as far as I know, the first time an ICC event for associate members will be livestreamed.

ESPN's livestreaming is top quality

Right now, I am watching England vs Australia at Sophia Gardens on ESPNplayer.com. And just like Will Luke promised, the quality is astonishingly good.

It looks great in their 960 x 540 pixels sized player, and even better when watching full screen on my 15 inch laptop.

Here are some screenshots of the player:

I did miss Sky Sports’ analysis during the innings break and got to watch a ”be right back”-message. And in general, I am not a big fan of using flash for livestreaming, because it always seems to get pixelated around the edges.

But really, with the quality offered by ESPN who cares about a little pixelation? It is that good, it might just make me switch from Willow TV.
