South Africa, will you just get over breaking up with Kevin Pietersen already?

It has been a while now, but, South Africa, you obviously never got over the break up with Kevin Pietersen.

You still care about him, don’t you? Very much so, in fact.

You follow his every move, question everything he does or says, speak ill of him at every chance you get, stalk him on Twitter …

All the while claiming you don’t care for him at all. Telling everyone over and over again how he betrayed you and how you want nothing to do with him anymore.

I know break ups are tough. I know there were things said by him that he probably shouldn’t have, but he was just a boy back then.

And truth be told, you were also only just maturing and, well, it was all kind of complicated with you.

Now I am not passing judgement here, I am only saying that, perhaps, it just wasn’t meant to be.

Yes, he plays for England (just like he said he would), but you still have a special place in his heart. That is why he loves coming back, playing cricket at your beaches, enjoying your company.

Why is that so difficult for you? He harbors no hard feelings towards you at all, why don’t you too just leave what’s happened in the past?

It’s been 10 years now since he left.

Really South Africa, Kevin Pietersen has moved on, isn’t it time you do the same?

Na het runs-spektakel van de eerste Test, waarin Virender Sehwag de snelste driehonderd ooit sloeg, lijkt de tweede Test er een voor de bowlers te worden. Zuid-Afrika’s seam-bowlers bowlden agressief en haalden het maximale uit het wicket en batsman na batsman viel in een bizarre sessie : India 76

Dale Steyn was de grote verwoester, met 5 voor 23. Voor India was Irfan Pathan topscorer, met 21 not out. Veel opwinding dus in deze tweede Test, die te volgen is via sopcast-livestreams; kijk hiervoor rechts van deze post.

De Zuid-Afrika Shaun Pollock

Shaun Pollock – de Zuid-Afrikaanse allrounder – heeft vandaag zijn afscheid aangekondigt als international. De huidige Test en komende ééndaagse wedstrijden tegen West-Indies zullen zijn laatste zijn.

De 34-jarige Pollock maakte zijn beslissing na afloop van de tweede dag van de derde Test tegen West-Indies bekend. Zuid-Afrika domineert die Test mede dankzij de vier wickets die Pollock pakte op de eerste dag, waarin de teleurstellen gasten niet verder kwamen dan 139.

Het was de eerste Test-wedstrijd voor Pollock sinds januari 2007. Sindsdien werd hij niet meer opgeroepen, mede omdat zijn snelheid steeds verder terugviel. Voor deze Test werden de omstandigheden echter ingeschat als ideaal voor de fastbowler, waarmee Pollock de kans kreeg om zijn afscheid alsnog zelf te regisseren.

Pollock werd in 2003 gekozen tot een van de vijf Cricketer´s of the Year door Wisden.
